(re)building the values

Whether you have never had company values or you need to adjust them for several, probably good reasons, think twice.

Recon that if they are not just intended to be “so-ein-ding”, they will and should affect your way of thinking about your customers and your people, and be the symbol of how you work and treat each other. It is amazing when it works, and it is a catastrophe when it do not.

building an agile mind set or structure

First question to be asked: Why do you want to work in an agile way? There are a pond of benefit by working agile and if you are an established organisation there is also a pond of challenges by taking that transformational choice. It is doable, and it is worth it so you just need to decide if you are in and ready to take the right decisions. And by the way - if you are a new organisation, you need to stay true to your decision as well. The window for committing to agile is only open for so long.

The trick is to let go of fantasies and fairy tails of how people in an agile organisation floats around, that all ideas are brought to the table and every body engage in the dialogue and the development of the product. That they work their butts off to fulfill the purpose and reach the dream. An agile organisation is like that, but the design principles of such a community is far from liberal and hippi-ish.

Keep in mind to control finance, HR, procurement, IT, marketing etc. to make sure that they do not limit the organisation. And then take a good and honest look at yourself. Are you ready to take a lot more blame and hustle in this very fast organisme where you are accessabel for everyone? No doubt it is rewarding and fun, but it does not come without a price.
